Hey everyone!

I hope that you had fun during the previous Combined Youth Fellowship in May. Our next combined youth event will be the Agapella Concert, held on 29 August (Saturday). Dinner will be at 6pm and the concert will commence at 7.30pm. The venue is at Moulmein Church of Christ. There will be a small charge for tickets and the money from the sale of the tickets will go to covering part of the food cost.

Agapella is a contemporary Christian a cappella vocal band formed in 2002. If you would like to find out more about them, visit their blog here.

And here is a youtube video of Agapella singing!

Invite all your friends! Do tell me if you are going, so that we can prepare enough food!

Illuminate May 26, 2009

We had the combined youth worship at Moulmein Church of Christ last Saturday. The theme was Illuminate.

It was great to catch up with people that we’ve known for so long yet hardly see! It was also nice to meet some new members and talk to them. Everyone’s growing up! Going for NS, applying for or graduating from university..

We played Human Bingo and guess what? The top 3 were all from Citivision! Hahaha a tad competitive, maybe? First was Faith, Second was Constance and Charis was Third. As part of our reward, we got front row seats to the Forfeit Show where those who did not participate in the Human Bingo game (because they were late etc) had to spell out ‘illuminate’ with their butts.

We had dinner which was simple but pretty yummy. Then Moulmein led a word game that resulted in more people being forfeited, Charis being the only one from Citivision. They had to do the chicken dance.

Afterwards we led the second icebreaker – Guesstures! We only had time for one round, but everyone had lots of fun and laughed a lot.

Don from Geylang COC led the singing accompanied by Sheena and Shermaine, then Uncle Robert from Chiang Mai shared with us about being kind and compassionate.

After that we finished up the leftover food and relaxed. Some people played table tennis or Guesstures while others just chatted and caught up with one another.

It was really a wonderful time. Thank you to Sue Ann and everyone else who planned, organized and coordinated everything! =)

The next combined youth gathering is the Agapella Concert on 29 August. We heard a little bit of their singing and it is really good! Plus they were singing ‘Testify to Love’ which is a super awesome song and earns points from us. Hahaha!

Have a great week!

Good Friday and Easter Sunday April 14, 2009

On Saturday, we had a special service to remember Good Friday and celebrate Easter Sunday.

We sang praises to God and listened to Nicholas talk about Jesus’ life, Charis share on Jesus’ Death and Jack speak on Jesus’ Resurrection.

We had a reading from Mark 15:1 to 39, where different youth read different parts.

We wrote down our worries, cares and parts of our lives that we wanted to commit to God, put it into an envelope and nailed them to a cross.

Afterwards we sang jumpy, happy songs to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!

My Redeemer Lives!

And Kenneth closed us with a prayer.

Because we’d spent 2 hours worshipping by candlelight only, we had to clear up the wax on the carpet. Everyone helped out, which was pretty good.

Lastly, we enjoyed the pot luck. It was yummy. Great fellowship. We ate, chatted, hung out and just caught up. Joseph and Candice from Lavender COC joined us and it was good to chat with them and get to know them better.

I think we really enjoyed ourselves. This Saturday’s special service was an indication of more interesting, deep yet fun fellowships to come! =)

The young adults went for dinner that day just to hang out and catch up. As you can see, Nicholas, Constance, Benedict, Jack, Charis, Renee, Kenneth and Faith went.

It was actually a good dinner. Relaxed, just chatting and talking about our lives, our day, school, everything. It was also great that Ben and Jack joined us, Ben we haven’t seen in awhile and Jack’s quite new to our group.

After dinner we hung around the kids section playing with toys and taking silly photos.

=)

It’s great how we are of so many different ages yet can get along. The old friends, the new friends. I think dinners like this should be done more often.

=)
