The What Really Matters event was a great success! We had a massive turnout of more than 700 with attendees from all over – polytechnics, universities, high schools and more. We all had a great time listening to Mike and Landon speak about what really matters in life. I believe we all learnt a lot and enjoyed the stories they shared with us.

How to live a happier life

  1. Joy
  2. Friends
  3. Fulfilment
  4. Do no harm

Can’t wait for the What Really Matters event next year!

Thank you to all who volunteered to help out with registration, ushering and everything else! =)

National Day August 7, 2008

Hey all!

Take heart, the weekend is upon us!!! A looooong weekend, in fact.

Anyway, as this Saturday is National Day, and many families might have their own celebrations, we will be canceling the Saturday party on 9th of August. Do tell as many people as you can if you see them online.

Spread the news! Parties will resume on 16th August, where Evangeline from Bedok COC will be sharing with us on being wise and standing up for what you believe in.

Speaking of parties, we will be adding a discussion after our Saturday sharings to fully enjoy the benefits of the wonderful sharings that people have been giving lately. Once again, the youth will be split according to age (13 – 15, 16 – 18) and a deeper discussion will be held on the topic. Do invite your friends because it’s a great and fun way to have them introduced to God, and to us, the church!

Meanwhile, see you all on Sunday and ENJOY LIFE TO THE FULLEST! :)

Love,
Faith ♥

High Tea July 9, 2008

Hey all!

Hope your week is going well. Just two more days and the weekend will be here!

Lavender COC is organising a High Tea at Parkroyal Hotel (Just opposite our church, next to Concourse!) on 19th July, Saturday. Instead of having our Saturday party at 5.30pm, we will instead be going for this High Tea. Lavender COC will be sponsoring it, but they need to know how many people will be going by this Sunday so they can book enough places for everyone.

Various young speakers will be sharing about their Christian life and several topics:

1. My spiritual faith
2. My relationship with my parents
3. Managing academic achievements
4. Coping with peer pressure
5. Boy-Girl relationships

And afterwards there will be a panel discussion as well as singing and games. It would be great if you can also invite your friends who you want to introduce God to. A fun, relaxed way to introduce them to God and let them meet us all at the same time.

Should you be going, do leave a comment here! :)

See you all on Saturday! The party and study sessions are on. Invite your friends and family! :)

/update: Nerissa pointed out (very cleverly) that the High Tea ends a mere half hour after the beginning of our Saturday fellowship, so there is no need to cancel it. However, since there will already be singing, sharings and games at the High Tea, we will just adjourn to church after the High Tea to relax and bond. Nertz anyone? :)

Love,
Faith ♥

So our beloved LST has left! :( It has been a very awesome few weeks, hanging out on their off days, rocking it on on Saturday at the parties and worshipping together on Sundays. So here are a few pictures from the last day they were with us! :)

David, Shelagh and Rachelle with the gift we made for them :)

David!

The very very gorgeous cover! Leon, our very own graffiti artist, drew them. Very talented, yes? :)

Rachelle!

Here is what Rachelle posted on the Citiyouth group on Facebook:

“Hey! I just wanted to thank all the youth, and the adults for writing those nice cards. It was the best gift we could possibly receive! Thanks Leon for your creativity in the cover and Faith and Constance, and……whoeverelse…for adding the pics. Ok… So i’m gonna miss you guys, but you’ll be in my prayers….As Phyllis always says with a smile, “If I don’t see you, I’ll ‘see you’ [in Heaven].” Well, I think that’s the coolest thing ever….so ok..bye guys, love ya’ll!”

Shelagh!

I was chatting with Shelagh on Facebook (I’m telling you, one of the best tools to keep in touch with others overseas!) and this is what she said to me:

“We miss you! DUDE, we keep seeing people from Singapore here! Seriously, I saw Shawn and Rachelle saw Yanan, THEN we heard you (Faith) and Cons laugh on the plane!”

Seems like they really miss us :)

Uncle Wah!

A man-hug from David to Kenneth and Shawn

Gorgeous Shelagh

Chatting

Just being silly

Sigh. We will really miss you guys! In fact, we are already really missing you! :( The time flew by so fast… Before we knew it, you all had to go home! Just when we were starting to get really close too. Well, we truly hope to see you sometime soon (here, or there), but if we don’t, then of course we’ll see you… In heaven! :)

God bless! We love you guys!!! :)

Let’s Start Talking :)

Check it out! Our parents sure know how to have a good time! Hahaha!

BUNNY EARS, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

They are so funny!

Well, the last LST party is THIS SATURDAY, 28th June!!! If our parents (above) can have such a good time, SO CAN WE!!! We want to see you there because it’s going to be loads of fun (aren’t they all?) and it’s your last chance to really hang out with the LST team before they leave early Monday morning!!!

There will be a scavenger hunt, so dress comfortably! Best if you don’t wear jeans, especially since the whether is so HOT nowadays! But if you want to… Of course you can wear jeans lah!

Other than that, just come on down! The LST party starts at 5.30pm at 30 Aliwal Street.

You can also join us for worship on Sunday, 29th June at 9.30am. Nicholas and David will be sharing! :) I look forward to it. Meanwhile, enjoy the last day of school (for this week)!

It’s yet another post about an LST party! Yayyy! The next theme was The Oscars, and we all had to dress up like we were going to the awards ceremony! Hollywood-style! We played a few games, something like Charades, and had to find out which movie character we were by asking Yes / No questions. It was fun seeing everyone dress up because it’s not everyday that we do! :)

The ladies

The gentlemen

Aren’t they sweet?

-GASP- It’s Clement!!! -SCREAMS-

Charis

Nerissa

Some people felt they were too famous to dress up for the Oscars! Come on Uncle BQ, I think even Johnny Depp would’ve worn pants! :)

Chatting

The Matrix

David’s a bit.. crazy.

Finally, a montage of the finely dressed! :)

It was a wonderful party! We had lots of fun and I’m sure the readers who came did too! :)

Well, the next LST party is a Hawaiian Luau BBQ party at Caribbean!

Where: Caribbean condominium, BBQ pit 6
It is 1 bus stop away from Harbourfront (same side), 2 bus stops away from Vivo City (same side)
When: 21st June, Saturday
Time: 5pm onwards

You can come early to swim and hang out. There is a jacuzzi as well as a steam room. Do feel free to bring some extra snacks or drinks. You may also bring some games to play! :) We really look forward to seeing all of you there!

Get out the hawaiian print shirts, bright colours, leis and flowers for some summer fun! :) Dress up in your Hawaiian Luau pool party funnest! (Instead of finest, get it?)

Any details needed, you can leave a comment here or SMS Faith! :)

Lots of love,
Faith ♥

LST party – America! June 5, 2008

Our first LST party has come and gone! It was a blast, if I say so myself! Quite a few readers turned up, and we managed to get to know them, and hopefully made them feel welcome! :)

The names of the readers who came were Benjamin, Yhang Lin, Michael, Yong Hao and Douglas. They were all pretty enthusiastic and joined in the games, which shows what great sports they can be, which is always AWESOMELY WELCOMED in our church!

Michael’s English isn’t that strong, but he has a really sweet smile and cheerful disposition! Yong Hao was pretty quiet, but opened up a bit after awhile. Just keep asking him lots of questions.

Douglas was really chatty! When he gets a bit excited he reverts back to speaking Chinese so you can remind him to practise his English and he’ll cheerfully oblige. Benjamin was quite chatty and Yan Lin was slightly quiet but very sweet too. :)

Hopefully this information will make them seem less intimidating to approach for you guys who are going to the Cowboy-themed party! :) They are really friendly and nice. Make them feel welcomed! :)

Our first game was Fruitbasket Turnover :)

Then we tried the tangled up hands thing. Our team kept winning.. In seconds! We rocked too hard :) Haha okay the other team actually did pretty well too!

All tangled up!

Yay! :)

Whoo. All hot and sweaty after all those games. We played butt racing too, and some sofa game where the girls won! Hahaha yayyy!

After the games we had dinner and chatted with a few of the kids. It was fun. The next party is on Saturday 7th June and the theme is Cowboys! So get your chaps on and YEEEHAAAAAWWW with us!!!

And FYI, the LST team has a blog too! Here it is! Take a look to see how they’re doing with the readers!

Love,
Faith ♥
