Today a group of us went to Lee Kong Chian Gardens School to paint their music room. We had loads of fun painting and painting. And we managed to finish it all in one day! I think we did a great job =)

The lion

Thank you to Fang Yan, Fidelia, Renee, Charis, Marco, Jack and Kenneth for helping out with painting and outlining! =)

Cute penguins

The giraffe, elephant and zebra
Special thanks to Charis who designed the mural, drew it out on the wall, planned the whole day, went to buy paint and supervised everything! =)

Doing Our Part Too! February 25, 2009

Hey all!
Duty has started again, and I know it can be tiring and annoying, but let’s do our part for the church okay? =) The adults help out so much, setting up the sound system, men preparing sermons and sharings, ladies washing dishes and clearing Lord’s Supper stuff.. How can we sit back and not contribute too?
Every week, the bulletin will announce who are on duty that day. If you do not see your names, then you do not have duty. Announcements on when there is no duty will also be in the bulletin, so remember to check it out!
Also, when you are at home and need to find out which months you are on duty, come to the youth website and click on the ‘duty’ tab above the pictures on the blog. There is the entire duty roster for 2009 there.
Your parents can also refer to that roster so they are aware of the months they need to stay back a bit more for you to complete your duty.
Do remember to start your duty right after your bible classes end! Do not wait for someone to remind you because then you will take a longer time to finish.
Doing duty keeps the church clean, first of all, and also earns the youth fund money that we can use to buy Christian books, DVDs, food for parties, games and so on.
So do it with a cheerful smile!
=)

Dedicating Goldenmile October 5, 2008

Today was our dedication service for Goldenmile Complex. The place is almost done, just a bit of unpacking to do. It’s so exciting! I really can’t wait to do more of God’s Work with this newer, bigger and better place.
Nicholas led the dedication service today, with a sharing by Constance and prayers by a few of the men like Uncle Wah, Uncle Dom and Uncle Patrick Jnr. It was also really encouraging to see a few kids come down despite the exams coming up!
Looking at the lower primary classroom always cheers me up. I hope that our time at Goldenmile will be as delightfully colourful and beautiful as the walls!
Yay! :) Tomorrow is our first service at Goldenmile. Remember to dress up in uniforms, or nerdy / preppy / geeky ways!
Love,
An Excited Faith ♥

We went back to Goldenmile today for a major painting session!!! :) Charis, Constance, Faith, Fidelia, Fidessa, Randall, Renee, Uncle JK, Uncle Clive and Uncle Fong came by to help! It was loads of fun and such an accomplishment!
Here, we will show you our progress as the day wore on! :)

Charis drawing murals for the Cradle Roll Room.
Thank you to Charis for drawing all the animals and the trees (awesome work), planning the first painting session, buying paint and of course, painting!

Constance helping to finish painting the blue sky in the Lower Primary Classroom.
Thank you to Constance who came to help draw on the walls, bought paint, got paint catalogues, painted, brought her ipod and got the speakers for church for the painting session and bought some snacks for the drawing session!

Renee painting blue, blue, and more blue!
Thank you to Renee who came down for both painting sessions to help paint! Yay! :)

Painting the wall or painting ourselves?!

Lots of blue everywhere. We had to finish the blue before starting on other parts of the mural. Here you can see a partially painted yellow giraffe.
Thank you Randall for coming down to paint, especially for doing the top parts which is such a strain on the arms and neck!

Charis painting the lion’s face and Dessa helping to paint more sky!
Thank you to Fidessa for coming down to help paint! :) And for being helpful, fetching things and all!

The giraffe and monkey

More of the lion is painted now!

Starting on the MANY blades of grass. Indeed a tedious and back-breaking task!

Different shades of green for the grass!

After finishing the blue sky, Constance and Uncle Clive moved to the Upper Primary Classroom to finish painting it yellow!
Thank you to Uncle Clive who was there at 10am to open the door and helped to paint! :)

Fidelia painting over the “HELP!” she and Constance painted at the first painting session
Thank you Fidelia for helping to draw on the walls, for painting at both painting sessions and helping to buy snacks and clear up!

Ooooh a snake!

Uncle Chee Fong dropped by for half an hour or so and took over the tiresome task of painting the topmost part of the ceiling from Randall
Thanks Uncle Fong for helping us paint the top part which is really so tiring!

Uncle JK painting the Young Adults Classroom’s feature wall!
Thank so much Uncle JK for bringing down your ladder (loads of help), helping to paint, buying more paint when we ran out and buying a delicious lunch!

More colours! Splotches on the giraffe coming out nicely! :)

Tree trunk is done too!

Monkey with a brown body!

Monkey with brown fur!

More and more getting done

The elephant!

The Upper Primary and Young Adults rooms are done!
But there are still some splotches to be painted for the Upper Primary Classroom.

Elephant and Giraffe!
MAN. It was an honestly TIRING day. We painted from 10 to 7pm, only stopping once for lunch! Imagine that! But we indeed made great progress, and despite not having many hands, we completed a lot of work. Thank you to ALL who came down, especially Uncle Clive, Uncle JK, Uncle Fong and Randall!
I can’t wait to see the final murals in the Lower Primary Classroom as well as the Cradle Roll room. Tomorrow we’ll continue painting, and hopefully be done! With many hands, it is very likely! Yayyyy! :)
Sleep tight, munchkins!
Love,
Faith ♥
Many Hands September 24, 2008

…make light work.
It’s always amazing to see all of us get together to help clear up and pack up our church before our move in 2 weeks. Young and old, boys and girls, all chipped in a helping hand. The men forewent their fellowship to help clear up instead. A few women did the same, foregoing the women’s fellowship to chip in.
:) So here are a bunch of photos I took showing everyone working together and having fun!

Jeremy, Constance, Sherilyn, Kenneth, Renee and Hubert packing up yet more nonsense unearthed in the Youth Room!

Nerissa and Joel, taking down our many curtains in the worship hall

Kenneth, Uncle Jk and Auntie Mew folding the dusty curtains

Nicholas and Joel rolling up a ball of string

Sherilyn packing up more board games and Uncle Wah unscrewing the screws there were for our curtains

Auntie Fan Fong and Auntie Debra sifting through the toys for the cradle roll class

Fidelia, Amber, Christal and Kaitlyn typing up the curtains into bundles

Faith and Fidelia with the bundles of curtains

Charis unscrewing curtain stuff from the Youth Room and Uncle Clive and Uncle Patrick Senior having a laugh

This Sunday will be our last week worshipping at Aliwal! It is so exciting! Although we have had many, MANY beautiful memories in Aliwal, I cannot wait to move on to bigger and better things (and places)! I believe that our church has grown, not only in number, but in spiritual maturity as well as grown closer to one another ever since we moved to Aliwal. I cannot wait for more of that when we are at Goldenmile Complex!
Yippeeeeee!
Remember that we will be spending Saturday painting at Goldenmile, so please make your way there to help us out! Even if it’s just to buy us some snacks or drinks to tide us through the tiresome task!
Love,
Faith ♥
