We had a combined worship with Moulmein COC on Sunday. Mike Cope and Landon Saunders gave the sermon. After the lesson, we got together to enjoy the delicious potluck food members from both congregations prepared. Once our tummies were full, we adjourned upstairs for some fun and games together.

We really had fun hanging out together and getting to know one another better. After the games, some of us stayed back to chill out and just chat about everything under the sun.

It was a great weekend full of God, fellowship, joy and laughter.

The Little Green Men played soccer at the inter-congregational soccer tournament at Tampines SAFRA last Saturday. We played against Geylang and Pasir Panjang. Unfortunately we did not win first place, but we did win Best Sportsmanship Team. Hahaha! =) Well, regardless, all of us had loads of fun and some of us even got sunburnt just by watching the match.

“Do you have what it takes to go through the Liberty Academy’s Superhero Training Camp and come out a SUPERHERO?”

The Liberty Academy’s Superhero Training Camp is a prestigious programme specially formulated to help superhero trainees realize their potential through a series of grueling challenges and tasks. Should the trainees succeed, they will become fully fledged, Liberty Academy certified Superheroes.

It is an extreme privilege to be invited to the Superhero Training Camp. Liberty Academy is the alma mater of many Superheroes, some of which include Batman, Cyclops, Sailor Moon, Optimus Prime, Chun-Li and Kim Possible. The Powerpuff Girls, Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles already have places at Liberty Academy, we are only waiting for them to turn 13 before they start schooling here.

You too, have the potential to become a great Superhero.

To confirm your attendance, email your true identity, superhero name, special superpower, favourite colour and favourite food to citiyouth@gmail.com by 17 June, Wednesday. It is extremely important!

The world is in grave trouble, and we need as many new Superheroes as possible. Hence, you may forward this invitation to any friends that you feel have the qualities a Superhero should possess.

Report to the Hall of Justice in your Superhero costume at 1730h. Please do not be late. Our discipline mistress, The Constanator will NOT be pleased. And if you knew her superpower, you would be very afraid.

I look forward to seeing you at our camp.

Hey everyone!

I hope that you had fun during the previous Combined Youth Fellowship in May. Our next combined youth event will be the Agapella Concert, held on 29 August (Saturday). Dinner will be at 6pm and the concert will commence at 7.30pm. The venue is at Moulmein Church of Christ. There will be a small charge for tickets and the money from the sale of the tickets will go to covering part of the food cost.

Agapella is a contemporary Christian a cappella vocal band formed in 2002. If you would like to find out more about them, visit their blog here.

And here is a youtube video of Agapella singing!

Invite all your friends! Do tell me if you are going, so that we can prepare enough food!

Good Friday and Easter Sunday April 14, 2009

On Saturday, we had a special service to remember Good Friday and celebrate Easter Sunday.

We sang praises to God and listened to Nicholas talk about Jesus’ life, Charis share on Jesus’ Death and Jack speak on Jesus’ Resurrection.

We had a reading from Mark 15:1 to 39, where different youth read different parts.

We wrote down our worries, cares and parts of our lives that we wanted to commit to God, put it into an envelope and nailed them to a cross.

Afterwards we sang jumpy, happy songs to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!

My Redeemer Lives!

And Kenneth closed us with a prayer.

Because we’d spent 2 hours worshipping by candlelight only, we had to clear up the wax on the carpet. Everyone helped out, which was pretty good.

Lastly, we enjoyed the pot luck. It was yummy. Great fellowship. We ate, chatted, hung out and just caught up. Joseph and Candice from Lavender COC joined us and it was good to chat with them and get to know them better.

I think we really enjoyed ourselves. This Saturday’s special service was an indication of more interesting, deep yet fun fellowships to come! =)
